Sustainability Policy: The Brewery prioritises sustainability while maintaining its role as a premier event venue. Efforts focus on minimising environmental impact and preserving its Grade II listed building.
Energy Conservation: Lights, power, and HVAC are minimised during set-ups, de-rigs, and unoccupied periods, with daily adjustments based on event needs. A "no idling" zone reduces emissions, and energy - efficient upgrades include LED lighting, motion sensors, and electric hand dryers. Energy is sourced from renewables.
Waste Minimisation: Recycling includes glass, plastic, paper, and cooking oil, with staff trained in waste separation. Non-recyclable waste is converted into energy, and an ORCA food digester processes food waste. Surplus event items and leftover food are donated or reused. Partnership with Event Cycle supports a circular economy.
Water Conservation: Low-flow toilets, sensor-activated urinals, and automatic taps reduce water consumption. Filtered tap water is provided in reusable glass bottles, and water meters monitor usage.
Single - Use Plastics: Most single-use plastics are replaced with compostable alternatives, including straws, cups, and cutlery. Reusable straps have replaced cable ties, reducing waste. The venue collaborates with suppliers to find sustainable alternatives.
Low Food Miles: Food is locally sourced where possible, with fish from the Sussex coast and produce from Spitalfields Market. Meat suppliers are UK - based and Red Tractor - certified. Tea selections are Rainforest Alliance - certified or from sustainable suppliers.
Other Practices and PoliciesThe Brewery holds ISO20121:2012 accreditation for sustainable event management and has received multiple Clean City Awards. Bike racks encourage staff to cycle to work
